1977

Birth of the Tradition

After the passing of her mother, Doña Hermelinda began her Arequipa cuisine business at home, later moving to Mariano Melgar, where she opened “La Fiera.”

1985

A Journey That Changed Everything

Doña Hermelinda was invited to a festival of Arequipa cuisine at Emilio Peschiera’s restaurant “El Cerro Sito” in Lima, which expanded her fame.

1991

Opening the Doors

Doña Hermelinda opened her new picantería, “Tradición Arequipeña,” blending Arequipa’s culinary traditions with the service of top restaurants.

1995

Award for Tradición Arequipeña

Hermelinda Carpio received the XXI International Trophy for Tourism, Hospitality, and Gastronomy in Spain.

2020

Doña Hermelinda’s Legacy Lives On

After her passing on June 30, 2020, Lourdes Rodríguez took on the leadership and commitment to keep the tradition alive through the preparation of the finest time-honored recipes.

2023

Peruvian Company of the Year Award

Tradición Arequipeña won the Peruvian Company of the Year Award.

2024

Recognized for Our Tradition

In 2024, Tradición Arequipeña received awards from the Latin American Quality Institute and Summum in the category of Best Restaurant in Arequipa.
