Nicolás de Piérola

1839 – 1913

An Arequipan politician and caudillo who served as president of Peru on two occasions. He was one of the most influential figures in Peruvian politics during the late 19th century.

During his government, he promoted economic reforms, reorganized public finances, and strengthened state institutions, contributing to the reconstruction and stability of the country following the War of the Pacific.
