Mario Vargas Llosa

1936 – 2025

Novelist, essayist, and journalist from Arequipa, recognized worldwide as one of the greatest figures of the “Latin American Boom.” He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2010 and helped position Peruvian literature on the international stage.

Among his most important works are The Time of the Hero, Conversation in the Cathedral, and The Feast of the Goat , texts that marked contemporary narrative in Spanish and brought cultural prestige to Peru.
