“The aroma of Arequipa”
The Valenzuela family turned Café Valenzuela into one of Arequipa's most emblematic brands. Ricardo Valenzuela started roasting coffee artisanally in a tenement near the Plaza de Armas in 1950.
Over the years, the coffee became famous among both tourists and Arequipenians, to the point of becoming a local symbol alongside traditional brands like La Ibérica and Anís Nájar. Ricardo's dream even led to spelling out the name “Café Valenzuela” on a hillside visible from most of the city.
