José Luis Bustamante y Rivero

“The unwavering scale. The embodiment of rectitude and Arequipenian honor. He elevated ethics to its highest expression, carrying the wisdom of his homeland to the presidency of the highest tribunal of humanity in The Hague, imparting justice for the entire world.”

Jurist, diplomat, and president of Peru between 1945 and 1948. He stood out for promoting democratic principles and for his important career in international law.

He later presided over the International Court of Justice in The Hague, becoming one of the most recognized Peruvian figures in international legal bodies and strengthening Peru's image abroad.
